Memoid explores Internet memes of the time such as Star Wars Kid and the Dancing Baby. Rendering these fleeting phenomena in marble and immortalising them in sculpture imbues them with a humorous and absurd gravitas, whilst also acknowledging their potential influence as a communicative medium. In examining memes, Memoid also utilised notions of obsession, mutation, repetition and evolution – all of which are tied up with Internet culture and our relationship with online phenomena.
