On Hold was composed of a series of items wrapped in cloth, rendered in marble. From a Harley Davidson to a Porsche, a wedding cake to a grand piano, these aspirational items are ever just out of reach. The objects evoke classical sculpture of the Baroque period, also drawing on a long history of concealment and enigma in more contemporary art from Man Ray to Christo and Jean-Claude. Ultimately the works refer to our imagination –childhood dreams; our ability to see what is not really there and to imbue forms with stories all of our own.
